Toscana Verde offers a charming restaurant, La Tabaccaia, set in a cozy and familiar environment.Tabaccaia is the name of the ancient factory destined to the drying of tobacco for the realization of the famous sigari toscani.
The restaurant is opened all year long, for both lunch and dinner. It is provided with 3 dining rooms and a panoramic veranda where we set up ceremonies, private parties and business lunches.
Our cuisine offers typical Tuscan dishes, suitable for those who want to delight their palate with ancient recipes. Some examples: ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, zuppa di farro, bistecca alla Fiorentina…which have been successful for the richness of flavors and the genuineness of ingredients. Don’t miss our cold cuts and cheeses accompanied by jams and local honeys.
We want to clarify that our chefs work only with local genuine products, and all the sauces and desserts are made in our kitchen, therefore they are homemade and without preservatives. In addition, some recipes are based on biological products such as bread cooked with organic and wholemeal flour, and, because of eco-sustainability, we mainly use local-km0 products.
We also offer vegetarian dishes and, on request, we can prepare gluten-free menus for celiacs.
The atmosphere is completed by a cellar with the best wines of the territory and those of Chianti area, which well match the tasty dishes of our cuisine. For connoisseurs or simple lovers, the choice ranges from Brunello to Chianti Classico, from typical Tuscan wines to national and international wines, with an excellent quality/price ratio.
Curiosity: in our area, Valdarno, the fish has never been a typical dish because we are far from the sea. But in the families, on Friday of eve, you could eat poor and preserved fish, because there were no fishmongers: herring, salted anchovies, canned sardines, baccalà. I remember that for the richest, once a week, there was the fishmonger with a strange trumpet that served as an amplifier and said: “Women! The fishmonger has arrived! Fried fish, arselle, clams, squid, red mullet…!”
Today, however, the fish is available and fresh every day, and this allows us to prepare themed dinners with traditional fish recipes, such as baccalà alla Livornese and caciucco, spaghetti allo scoglio, branzino al forno…
On request the chef proposes the “Dish of the day” as well as fresh fish dinners, always of excellent quality.
